I met Rick Leatherwood while pastoring Sugar Creek Church near Houston in 1989, when this great adventure was fi rst unfolding. He told me he was taking Navajo Indian believers with him to Mongolia as a point of contact and asked if I would let him tell his story to our congregation. Saying “yes” was one of the best decisions of my life. It began a friendship and respect that has grown over these years. Rick is a missionary’s missionary. He has experienced what most of us only dream of one day doing. He has seen God create something where there was nothing. This story will cause a holy excitement to build within you as you read what is like a contemporary chapter in the book of Acts, recognizing that God can birth a new church again today!

Rick Leatherwood is a man who constantly seeks the toughest assignments.  He has always plunged into the most difficult areas of the world on behalf of the gospel of Christ.  He was one of the first foreigners to penetrate Mongolia when it began to open to outside influence. He and his wife Laura identified closely with the local culture, lived in ager, learned the language, and witnessed faithfully in one of the most remote and resistant areas of the world.
